Basically need to cover the concept / products / installation......factors. Iam an Electrician with a technical background so I'm not a complete novice... An ideal course would last 1/ 2 days......any ideas?

An ideal course would last 1/ 2 days......any ideas? 1/2 a day, they would just be able to train you not to wire the camera's all in parallel ! only joshing you, i've just been to too many alarms installed by sparks, with all door contacts and tampers in parallel i think Gardiner Security also run coarses from time to time laid on by suppliers, also check out Norbain SD, if your a real smarty, book one of there mobile demo vans to come and advise one of your projects, its free advice and a demo of kit too. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

I know there are a few others (Tavcom being the most well known), but at this time of night, I'm doing well just to be typing in english MS, if you need any links, I'll have to see what I've got listed.

Be careful with manufacturers courses. The plus point is they are oftern free, the negative is they only talk about their products. Dave ps: and no the Norbain course I went on didn't just feature Vista. May have changed, who knows.

Agreed, but if someone wants to learn the basics, and manufacturers are prepared to supply that knowledge, then it's up to the individual how and whether they accept the offer of usually free tuition. Yer pays yer money ....
