Guest Andys1500 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Hello all, and thanks in advance for reading this. Hope someone can help, otherwise it's a callout for me! The alarm in our house is a 9448. That's all I know about it. It was here when we moved in and the previous occupants gave us the code, but no manual. Recently it went off. A bulb blew in the house and tripped the circuit breaker, and this caused the alarm to sound for some reason. I went to key in the code but it didn't stop the alarm. Eventually the alarm went off of its own accord, but the blue light on the external sounder is still flashing. None of the lights are lit on the control panel. Keying in the code to reset it has no effect, and it doesn't, as it normally would, set the system. What on earth could be going on here? I don't mind calling an engineer out if it looks like an actual fault, but as I don't have a manual and can only find very brief instructions on the net, I'm reluctant to blow a callout charge on something that mught just be me not knowing what buttons to press. Any suggestions, gratefully recieved.

As for the strobe still flashing that's telling you it hasn't had a valid reset code since the last activation. Is the keypad on the panel or remote to it? The older I get, the faster I was.

avcctv Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Thanks for the reply so quickly. The keypad is on the panel. OK, so when you enter your code does the keypad make any sounds at all? The older I get, the faster I was.

The outside Bell box seems to run off its own Battery now as it is still flashing. I would recommend to contact an alarm company for a take over of your system if you are not registered with anybody. They will service the system at least yearly and make sure everything is OK. Also on their fist visit they can check everything and get it back up and running. Do not open the panel as its dangerous (240V) and also the memory might be wiped because of the powercut. , Alex
