arfur mo Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I read that as refering to the batt ends of the wires Alan, not the pcb end of them hi bellman i know i must be getting very old mate and the grey matter is more dust than working living cells. so tell me how would putting black wire to black terminal and red wire to red terminal cause a smoke-up or bang (unless the leads were reveresed on the panel re my reply)? i have been connecting batteries the above way for several decades, but perhaps i have been wrong all this time and just never ever noticed the smell of burning bubling battery gell! and before some bright spark suggests 'what about when using 2 x 6 volts in series' i and and i bet most if not all others tend to use a single cell, this is designed to make it easier for us security engineers, fire alarm guys are out there on their own so we will not concern ourselves with them - will we?. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
bellman Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 hang on what are you arguing about here? I wasn't, I was mearly expanding on how I read it. Perhaps Alan hasn't heard that old expression before. Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
