I prefer the 2500, lots more things to play with :)

Well play away, in possibly 3 yrs time you might get the hang of the "beast" we call the "25".

Soz tried to help but you want to run when you cannot walk.

cheers

No disrespect old hand, but what exactly is your problem?

You really have an "I'm in the trade, aren't I cleaver, you aren't so you must be stupid" attitude don't you.

What's with the "Soz tried to help but you want to run when you cannot walk" comment?

I have installed the panel, it has been running in the house for over a year now without any real problems - one false alarm so far, due to a defective vibration sensor going, only what I can describe as, mental (from looking at the log) this was replaced about 8 months ago, problem solved.

All I asked initially was about having a ward auto set when there was no activity in it, the manual suggests it can be done, but it seems to look for continuous activity, just leaving a sensor violated does not seem to keep resetting the timer. fair enough, I was wrong in my assumption on how this worked - This is why I posted here to make sure I hadn't overlooked anything.

I assumed I needed to use a diode on a relay, but just asked in case the XNode happened to already have one installed

The '25' is definately a beast, but an extremely powerful beast.

I still get a chill down my spine when I get to a job and I have to press enter when in engineers menus.

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

In reply, i have no problem.

I tried and think in some ways taught you something about the 2500.

Your attitued was one of i will play with it, and i commend you for that. How else do you think we learnt how to do such things?

As for being "In the Trade" I know more than though, //.B.W.F.// m8ty i learn new things everyday.

EVERYDAY lifes not about what you knew its about what you can learn.

Sorry if my help didn't solve your problem on the panel but another member here has said the same thing and he is far more experienced than me............but we agreed.

How about rethinking your last question, your good in your field i assume and would help me if i asked; when i ask even if the answer assumes i`m a fool i listen. or does teaching not stem from a person knowing nothing and mean they need guidance and care?

cheers

Great, glad to hear "no problem"

Maybe it is just the impersonal text, your replies just came across as a bit rude and patronising, suggesting I shouldn't be playing about with things I don't understand. I am very grateful for any advise given, and fully understand it is difficult for someone to know another persons experience with something, when all they have seen is a few questions about things they don't fully understand.

With your assistance I have learnt I need to put the panel into Deferred Set mode to get the High Security mode to work, but this mode still seems to require regular activity in the ward to keep the timer resetting, not what I wanted to hear really because it doesn't suit my application :( I wanted it to stay unset until there has been no activity on all zones, and all zones have been in a healthy state for 10 minutes.

I will have to stick to setting the Ward with the code or the B key on the keypad, as I don't want to use a lock to unset the ward!

Good attitude :)

A shunt lock would give you much greater flexibility and security, no need to have entry/exit, less risk of forgetting to set the alarm or accidently unsetting the shed when other parts of the system are unset.

The TS2500 is nothing like a 9500, that is a fact. They are both alarm panels wich employ remote expanders thats about it IMO.

I don't find any of Old Hands messages in any way derogitory, sometimes, like text messages, the messages come across in different ways. I too have been guilty of this in the past by reading a message and then going on the offensive

I'm with Mr RJB on the shunt lock plan for exactly the same reasons he mentions, good advice.

Good luck Sparks.

lol me too!

hated them to start with, (so different to the 690/900's we used to fit normally) but as we use the new menvier m panels i find the old 2500's much easier to tackle now

They based the restructured menus around the 25 i believe, a few quirks to deal with but easy to run around. Even better with a lap top, programming takes mins..................Although i used to race a m8 on a TS700 fully loaded we could program them in about 25 seconds from the keypad, try that on the 900`s and they fall over :P

cheers
