Guest nicky Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Hi I'm new to the site, so hopefully I have posted this under the correct forum, my apologies if I have not. We recently went on holiday, returned to find that our house alarm had been going off for 18hrs straight (as the result of a power cut, house is 2 years old). The council were called out and disconnected the external sounder (sorry for my lack of technical terminology). Anyway we have now reconnected the external sounder box. To do this we cut power to the system using the trip box. Now when we switch the mains power back onto the alarm, the alarm sounds for about 30secs and then stops, however the keypad is non responsive. The "Mains" and "Day" indicators are lit, the "Tamper" light is not. When we enter our codes to try and set the alarm we get no response - any advice ?? I also realise that we have an issue as our alarm should not have sounded for 18hrs straight! Any help / advice gratefully appreciated! Thanks Nicky
Guest nicky Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 it sounds like should call an engineer out to me, it shouldnt have sounded for that long, and that needs to be fixed firstbtw what did you council charge you for silencing the alarm and have you been fined? Council have charged
Service Engineer Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Anyway we have now reconnected the external sounder box. To do this we cut power to the system using the trip box.Did you disconnect the internal battery in the control panel too..?If not the shock to the system of the required current to charge the dead CP battery and power all the devices and sounders has likely locked up the panel.. So leave it a few hours to charge..(or overnight). And call an engineer in the morning, it won't take long for him to reset it for you. ........................................................ CP Mains and Day lights are on and makes the usual bleeping noise when punching in our pin it just does not activate the alarm when trying to set it. Thanks i'll give that a go.
Service Engineer Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Try the code 1234.. If that works the system has lost it's memory and been defaulted. You may have to call an engineer to set up the system correctly for you. ........................................................ Dave Partridge (Romec Service Engineer)

Have just tried 1234 and still no joy. Looks like i'll have to get an engineer out. Its tempting to just leave the thing off, insted of spending even more money trying to get it sorted. Thanks
