Hello to all!

After much trying, searching and running around I have finally been able to get hold of an Engineers manual for my Scantronics 9100 Panel.

I am a qualified/experienced Computer and Electrical Engineer but this is my first time "dabbling with panels". We moved into the property 2 months ago and found it protected by this Panel. I found the forum shortly after and learned that it was a "long lasting bulletproof" system and is likely to last a while.

I have the user code, but the Engineers code has been changed. The manual describes how to perform a full factory reset by doing "something under the cover" and disconnecting the battery and mains supply.

The mains supply shouldn't be a problem, there's a fused switch next to it. I can simply shut that down. However I know it is battery backed and hence my question is this: The mainboard layout appears to show a tamper switch - I presume the second I remove the casing, all hell is going to break loose.

Assuming I get the mains off, the panel cover off - the one thing the manual doesn't say is where the battery is located! I assume it's going to be under that panel, but I don't want to take it off only to find the battery is somewhere else and I'm stuck with a very loud alarm that I can't shutoff!

My second concern is that if I can simply pull the fused switch out, remove the panel, disconnect the battery and "do something under the cover", what's to stop Joe Bloggs down the road from doing the same when he decides to break in?

Or is the general premise of this system that Joe Bloggs wouldn't know how to do this?

for one of the reasons you give

"We do not give out Alarm Engineer/Installer manuals, to avoid offence please do not ask us to supply them"

that also means we wont discuss them either

Edited - Please do not attempt to bypass the rules in this way

Edit:

Got it figured. Am reprogamming now. Will definately be looking for a new system though...
