Optima Xm Button Fault?

Hi, glad I found this forum.

I have a problem with my Optima XM control panel, everything was OK till I had to turn the house power off today to do some work and since then the buttons on my control panel dont work.

I have the manual here and the only thing I can see in it is to do a "power up reset - Clear NVM" will this do the trick do you think or will the panel need replacing, seems odd if it went down same day as me turning house power off.

I have tried getting into the engineering mode but can't due to the buttons not working, so now when I take the front panel off the alarm is gonna set off cause of the tamper circuit, I dont want to get into a position where the alarm is sounding and me not being able to turn it off due to having no buttons working, I should be able to power the bell box to stop it but if anyone thinks the panel is knackered I would rather have a new one here ready to fit.

While i'm at it any recommendations for a panel, nothing fancy i'm not protecting Buckingham palace :)

Thanks for your reply's.

I'm not sure the battery is dead, i removed the mains power and left it off for about half an hour, the alarm didn't activate due to power loss and the day light stayed lit all the time, I will remove it tomorrow and test it, dont want the alarm sounding tonight, my neighbours won't be pleased !!

The symptoms you describe are directly related to a battery problem. It is a common problem on the Optima panels, and even though it appears that your system was running OK on the battery, if the battery was in fact OK, the system should'nt have crashed on re application of mains power. I have seen it happen quite a few times. In short, it's probably not a terrible idea to employ the services of a suitably experienced alarm engineer
