Answering Your Business Phone

We are having a company mid life crisis (appart fom my current staff problem)

I was just wondering how you guys manage handling your phones? You will all have a local contact number or 0800 like us, but who is on the end of it when you are out on the tools.

My missus looks after our phones and when she goes out she diverts to her mobile. It is not fool proof though as when she is out of area or on another mobile call, a pottential customer is directed to a vodafone voicemail service

Any ideas?

Me, all calls diverted to me.

What happens when you are up a ladder, on a site where you don't hear phone, driving and can't write stuff down and out of network coverage, or phone batt dies???

Not a dig, just real life examples where customers could go to answerphone and not leave a message.

I know this will sound pedantic but quite capable of answering a phone while up a ladder unless ive got me drill in hand, it then goes to answer phone which im not keen on but its very rare that i happen to get a call in that situation but it does happen but probably relates to 3/4 of one percent of my calls but it could be a top job i could have missed out on but im human not a robot.

My phone vibrates, nice.

Driving either i can pull over (the PC way) or if im on a motorway im going to miss the call but for me this is a rare thing.

I can honestly say ive never had a problem with network coverage and ive never let me battery go flat although me new phone 6111 has a poor battery and good battery life will be on the list for future phones.

I was talking too a customer last week who said i was the only company they phoned that answered the phone which they thought was good, all other companies answer phones obviously they never phoned one of the nationals.

Just thought driving, hands free kit atleast they have got through to a person and could arrange for them to phone back if you cant take down the number.

I know the above isnt the ideal way but i cant afford a secetary :(

I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.

I have been giving serious thought to a virtual office service.

Someone that will answer the phone with your own greeting and take messages.
