Guest paultay3 Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 Hi all, I've just been searching on the web and found this site, so was wondering if anyone could help me. Over the weekend I have fully wired in a Sterling 10 for a friend of mine, did a walk test and all is well, except... every time the alarm is (attempted to be) set it goes off straight away with a "Tamper" alarm. I can't understand why it doesn't go off at any other time (only when setting the system), I have replaced the Tamper circuit with a wire link, but if I remove this at any time it makes no difference (I'm sure the alarm should sound 24/7 like a PA alarm). I have come to the idea that it must be something to do with the Bell box Tamper, as this is the only other one (I've checked the keypad tamper), but still if I go to "system test" then all 4 circuits work (Display, Strobe, Ext Bell, Int Bell). So I'm then led to believe that maybe my wiring isn't wrong, and I've been unlucky enough to get a faulty panel. Before I undo all my wiring tho, and storm into the shop I was hoping someone could reply to my rather simple puzzle below, if you could I would be most greatful. Thanks in advance, and thanks for reading. The connections are as follows: Sterling 10 Bell + Bell - BT (Bell Tamper) Bell NO Bell C Bell NC Strobe NO Strobe C Strobe NC Bell Box Bell + Bell - SAB Hold Bell Tamper Strobe + Strobe - I feel really sorry for the people in the area too! Everytime I've messed with the wiring the battery backed-up on the bell box has kicked in, but as yet nobody has complained. But that also makes me wonder, would anybody bother coming to look if it were a real alarm???
Service Engineer Posted February 11, 2004 Posted February 11, 2004 Im not too familliar with the Pyronix stuff, but would have wired them like this. Panel>--------->Bell Bell + >------> Bell+ Bell - >-----> SAB Hold BT >-----> Bell Tamper Bell C & Strobe C to 0volts (or SAB Hold -) Bell NO >-----> Bell - Strobe NO >-----> Strobe - ........................................................ Guest paultay3 Posted February 11, 2004 Posted February 11, 2004 Right, sorted my problem, it was nothing to do with the wiring to the SABB Bell box, it was the wiring to the remote keypad! The wire from the connection KTR that is supposed to link to K- was not present, and after a quick test was found to be cut through behind the wall! (Thank you to the people that fitted the cables when they built the house!) Just incase any one does have a problem with wiring into a SABB from a Sterling 10 here is the connections I used: (SABB on the left, Sterling 10 on the right) Bell + (Red) Bell + Bell - (Blue) Bell N/O SAB Hold (Black) Bell - Tamper (Yellow) BT Strobe + (White) Bell + Strobe - (Green) Strobe N/O Notes: The Tamper Resistor on the SABB is not needed (use the terminal on the right, or put a link in instead). Links must be placed on the Sterling 10 from "Bell -" to "Bell C" and "Strobe C". I've learnt a lesson over the last couple of days, always install your own cables! The people that put them in for someone else to use don't care if they stick a nail through any of them! all. Paul. Big thanks to Dave too, just seen your post.
