thomas Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 For some reason 'en' has started showing on the keypad display when setting and unsetting alarm. can anyone tell me why. It still works but can't find 'en' in the user manual
thomas Posted November 17, 2006 Author Posted November 17, 2006 didn't change user code but a few days earlier reset alarm after it was showing 'al' and could have done it incorrectly. The alarm still works but keypad shows 'en' in between it setting and unsetting.

thomas Posted November 17, 2006 Author Posted November 17, 2006 it's telling you your due for a service.. Hurry up or it'll lock you out after 2 weeks.. Its just been serviced by another company. I wasn't happy with the person who installed it. Even less happy when the firm I most recently had said he couldn't get the engineer's code as the person who installed put a code beginning with 9 so only he can change it

It can be done, but ask your old installer if he'd be so kind to remove the locked code for you, or at least come and change it. ........................................................ I'm a bit unsure about it letting him come into the house again. he was really that bad. Not the sort of workman I'd trust. I could try phoning him and asking if he could give me the code over the phone. Have I a right to have the code as I've paid for the system?
thomas Posted November 17, 2006 Author Posted November 17, 2006 Unfortunately it doesnt quite work that way, I would be very suprised if he lets you know his engineer code as it would compromise all his other customers systems. The panel can be defaulted by sending it back to the manufactures, some engineers do no how to get round the manufacture reset, or you could get the losing co back to default the code. Peter thanks for all you help. I'll give the above options a go
Service Engineer Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Have I a right to have the code as I've paid for the system? You don't have the right to have his code, but in my opinion he should come round (possibly for a small charge) and either default it for you or enter a code of your choice now he is no longer looking after your system. Locking the engineer code is annoying to engineers but locking the code and enabling the service timer thus locking out the customer is in my opinion a very bad practise. ........................................................ thomas Posted November 17, 2006 Author Posted November 17, 2006 as far as i am aware there is a very easy way to get to the default codes on the 300 series panels with out losing the programing info. your service company should be aware of this, it is also the reason i wont fit them, as you can shut them up in less than 60 seconds. Which manufacturer would you recommend?

Nice one, thats like me saying i can open your door in 30 seconds and also shut up your alarm. Oops i just did. Fact is we are professionals and know what we are doing, customers may not realise that. Hence the request to change the wording on the sites welcome page, which Dave has done. Its not right to scare the //.B.W.F.// out of customers ! Things can be circumnavigated but to shout from the roof`s about it is another thing.
