New Systems Requirement

We are just planning a large house extension, we are lucky enough to live in a relatively crime free area but we feel now would be an ideal time to install a new integrated system (As the house is going to be in a mess!)

We would like a house alarm, this should protect the house when empty as well as offer 2 panic buttons and ideally remote alerting via e-mail or SMS. (I'm a gadget freak!)

We need to install at least 3 mains powered fire alarms to satisfy Building Control.

Finally I would like to install a basic CCTV system (Ideally PC based) so that it records all visitors (especially unwanted ones) to the house.

Are there any integrated solutions on the market that will satisfy all of the above requirements? (It would be good to be able to monitor the CCTV cameras remotely if we were notified the alarm had gone off)

Obviously any advice on added home security deterents etc would be apreciated. - We already have external PIR's and lights and these will be supplemented as part of the extension.

Budget is pretty tight, ideally around

Perhaps I should have said I would want a PC based camera system as I have a spare P4 3.0Ghz PC which would be ideal.

I would prefer a hardwired alarm which I presume should also keep the cost down.

The budget may stretch a bit but probably not by too much.

Hi PThomas

to be brutally honest, if you are budgeting that low you can expect to get very poor unreliable equipment, perhaps even 'liberated' from a removal. and an untidy slip shod installation to match.

most quallity companies will either refuse or just about fit a domestic house alarm for your budget

if you can not afford the capital outlay then concider installing the cables now as you are in a refurbishment stage, then later as your finances allow have the proper quality systems installed. some companies can offer leasing, which removes the capital burden and is very tax efficient in many cases.

To be brutally honest, you budget is totally inadequate. For the sort of gear that you are likely to get for that you would be be better off not bothering (IMO).

EDIT: Oh no! Im starting to sound like Arfur!

Nah! your never going to be as always right like me :)
