New Systems Requirement

I would suggest you make a call to your Insurer as the budjets you are talking about would probably not get you the correct grade of system to meet the European regs .

Doing the job on the cheap can cost you dear down the line. Insurance companies can insist on systems meeting a certain standard especially if a claim has or is made before or after you have a system fitted.

yes i would spend it on cctv first as at least you can see :ninja: who it is aroun the property and not just hear that the place has been broken into. it gives more info like the colour of the vehicle is used,

:hmm: hoddie.......... yes we can see a car leaving on the cctv....... fecking hell its mine they broke in for the keys :P

this is not a fabrication, and just proves you DO get what you pay for,

take notice of advice like this

my security alarm system has operated faultlessly, even without a routine visist in 10 years, battery must be shot but the system is still working. smoke system fire 8 - 10 times a year every year.

Same here! I wonder if thats the same of most engineers own systems. Never took the lid off since I first closed it :fear:

The smoke sensors that fit into alarm panels, do these sound the normal break in alarm or is there a different tone?

I would be concerned if the whole alarm goes off as we do occasionaly get false alarms due to cooking/burning toast etc.

depends what panel you get but yes om pro install, f not get someone else in

420 tv lines for a reasonable image and 500+ for a high quality image.

checked out that web site i pm'd you what did you think???

Some good stuff on there and keen prices.

I'm still a bit unsure on the resolution issue. Yes I can get plenty of cameras with a resolution of 420 and more expensive ones at 500+, but most PC capture cards seem to quote 640x480 as the max resolution.

How do these figures compare?

Yes to which bit? Seperate internal alarm or outside sounder as well?

Depends on the control panel. The 'better' ones will allow the engineer to dictate exactly what happens on fire detection. As for the burnt toast scenario, good quality detectors sited correctly should not give unwanted activations.
