No it shouldnt, ask the engineer to come back and tighten the tranny up.

I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.

Just to qualify, it isn't of any immediate danger but the annoyance should be rectified asap - many panels have this problem initially but normally it clears with an adjustment to the transformer.

yeah get the engineer back to screw the tranny up!!!!!

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

i was recently called to a similar problem. when i opened the cover 3 small wasps were lying on the bottom of the panel. the wasps were unfortunately dead. at the other side of the base, a small mouse was playing a paper and comb. removed the small furry musician and carefully placed him outside in the garden. problem solved.

Try tapping a tune on the side of the panel and if the buzzing starts joining in, probably the same problem.

Thanks for the help, so its a relatively simple fix for the guy then, just a case of tightening the transformer up?

We have fitted hundreds of these panels, and I must say that I don't always find that just tightening the screws stops the buzzing, but we know how to overcome the problem.

This problem isn't limited to Texecom panel. If your installer has enough experience he should be able to overcome the problem ..... don't be fobbed off! It can be cured.

Hi i spoke to him he seems to think that tightening the tranny down will sort it out. I hope it does otherwise i will have to get the thing moved (it drives me nuts) What else do you do to stop it buzzing

Should fix it but if not might add some rubber washers to the fixings or replace the panel.

Thanks for your help and advice

I have the same problem with my Veritas R8 (I think it's that, it matches the pictures on websites) alarm. It is much louder in cold weather. It drives me completely nuts. I've taken to stuffing foam behind the edges of the panel which deadens the sound, but only temporarily!

I can't get the installer back because it was already here when I moved in, and many alarm companies I have phoned only do service contracts (not repairs) and only if they themselves did the installation :( . I did call one company out in February but when the chap got here the buzzing had stopped and I looked foolish.

I've had the panel open and there was nothing visibly loose inside. I can't screw it tighter to the wall without disturbing a mass of wires that I think I'd better not touch!

After reading this thread I'd like to have another try and finding someone to repair it. I'm also in Birmingham, are there any companies people would recommend? Are DGS security (mentioned in the UK installers listing, but unchanged since Jan 2003) any good?
