You missed something but I can't be bothered to take it any further!

coz you know your wrong...you cant defend 3 day responce..its all wrong..approved or not,it makes us all look bad..

Think he meant that if its sold as a monitored system its no way guaranteed to be monitored..........in which case its a cowboy job.

Personally i would trip a PA and see if it gets any response.

silence is not an answer,cant say wont say doesnt wash...this game would be dead without maintainence income..it doesnt matter if were sole traders,small/mid/large co's or nationals..thats the lifeblood of a co...if a customer isnt getting the responce he is due it reflects bad on us all...rid this game of cowboys i say,and let us all compete on a level plaing field..where service gets work...

sparkys fitting systems,diy etc dont get responce,educating customers and working to standards does...if joe bloggs wants to fit a b&q system then fine..but tell him no one will take notice,but complain that his alarm is **** and get it sorted..

Was a generalisation, if you know of such company fitting and not complying then name and shame to their respective inspectorate. Blowing wind here wont stop them, use the protocols in place.

we all know of them....ive had some on my estate as we all have....the national car on the drive and looking out of the window at them gives them no shame..we know they know but they dont care...customers need to be aware.. :bruce_h4h:

lads, roger is saying that not all companies provide a 4 hour response, not that he doesnt. Anybody can connects a monitored system its the police that only issue urn's to approved companies.

I also as i posted earlier thought it was disgusting that the company that had fitted the system didnt respond, but from the op comments it looks like the system was a 3 day job and is only on its second day. I assume the company have powered it up early and unfinished just to give the guy a chance to use it and raise questions before monday.

As most on here will know i dont like unapproved companies that dont follow the same rules as approved. I feel there is no place for them, unfortunatly people disagree and these systems are purchased by the client on a bargain hunt. We have to pick up the pieces from these systems, but as 20 start up and 20 dissapear a week it seems this practise wont end.

If this is an approved company then i think there is an issue, mainly leaving the system powered up and working for the client but unfinished, but we dont know the full story, the client may be happy with 3 day response, the client may have requested the system be powered up so he could 'learn' his new panel over the weekend etc etc

Also it appears the comapny that fitted has temporily used a plug in micro filter and will be fitting a hardwired on monday.

Regarding its wrong etc and it makes us all look bad i agree, but how do you make an unapproved company comply with optional working standards, you are shouting an nsi/ssaib rule note a europuan or british standard. And again there is no reason to even comply with the old bs 4737 as an unapproved company

Im sure im gonna get a tirade of abuse from the non approved brigade but im not attacking the unapproved guys that do things properly and offer the correct level of service both in hours and out of hours
