Guest Danny Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Has anyone come across Red4Bed? All you old pervs stop getting excited it - it's not a porno! It's a prox system from mdt and works with the avanti range of control panels. I keep hearing about it and a few guys are saying it's gr8. Dead easy to use apparently. Anyone out there know anything about it. Ask the bloody distributors and all they know is the bleedin order number not what it does. I'm sure I heard somewhere that it's something to do with ADE. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not though!!!!!!!! Dan
Guest WiganJack Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 RJB, you surprise me. I just got told about your post and have just registered so that I can respond to you! Been using avanti for best part of this year and have never had a fault, I'm surprised to hear you've had probs. avanti is the best panel Ive used. Ive installed alarms for many years now and have been tempted by many but ultimately stayed with ADE products (accenta, Ultimate) until that is avanti came along. I admit Iwas a bit wary at first but then I tried one & never looked back. the programming is great, spec is just what you need for domestics and the price is unbeatable. You are righjt about one thing though the customers do love red4bed, really does sell itself. Have you spoken to mdt about your teething probs cos I've always found them to be exceptional in their support. The good thing about Graham is what you see is what you get - no rubbish. So, danny, try one and if youve got a question ask me and I'l help you out. By the way red4bed workas with Avantilc and avantixp. same panel just that xp has digi builtin and expands to 24 zones Jack

Guest Danny Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I've got the literature in front of me and it says Grade 2. Thanks WiganJack. I'm going to get one in and see what it's like. I feel better knowing that it's graham. I spoke to him a few times over the years when ade stuff was good and he seemed like a top bloke. the lads i've spoken to prob think it's ade cos you identify graham so much with ade. I'' run with the avanti lc first and see what's its like before I try the one with the digi. Thanks for the feedback - you to rjb! If i get any teething probs I'l let you know. Dan
antinode Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 The XP is'nt a bad panel on paper, but I felt a bit let down with the ones I have installed/worked on. The keypad feels really cheap to me, and the plastic end station model is tiny (plus it looks too much like an Optima). The only advantage over a 9651 or 480 IMO is the built in digi. i always thought they didnt comply but dont know why but thats why i have never looked at them It's a grade 2/2X panel. Trade Member

Guest Danny Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Hi Jack, I agree with most of what you post and yes I have spoken to MDT, unfortunately I don't get replies to my emails anymore and I no longer get return telephone calls with answers to the problems. I would use the panel much more if it hadn't been for the problems with the panel holding the telephone line open so that the customer couldn't use their phone (4 sites - 1 with multiple instances) and 3 cases where the RKP wouldn't communicate with the panel on power-up; replace the RKP and problem solved!I would like to be more positive and support Graham and Caroline in their venture but these problems have to be resolved for me to have confidence in the product, which without these problems would be a cracking panel. Hi RJB, that does sound a bit disappointing. I feel like I should speak with mdt and get a greater feel for the panel. I won't mention you but would you mind if I asked them if they'd had any probs etc and see what I can find out. Feel like I'm caught between a rock and a hard place at the mo. Jack seems so positive about it and you do to but then a bit reluctant Dan
Guest WiganJack Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 i always thought they didnt comply but dont know why but thats why i have never looked at them Ive had my inspection and fully complies with Grade 2. I've heard from distributors that avanti is the only graded panel that's not had major probs with grading. The polycarb ES is a little small but if you put it next to an optima or veritas there's the same room inside! They do a steel ES as well which is bigger. There's no comparison to a 9651. This is ten times easier to programme & the customers much prefer it

Dan I must be getting old, but I do take exception to this sort of language, more so when it is the first post of a new member, doesn't the bad language filter work any more magpye Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.
