parmar Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Hi Guys, been reading up on this site for a couple of days gotten a lot of helpful advice! My purchase on a new house will complete later this week but it doesn't come with an alarm system. So I'm wanting to install one while its still empty to make the job easier. I'm pretty handy with wires and electrics and fancy a DIY install. I've been looking around for what would be the best system to install and Honeywell/Ademco seem to be scoring a lot of brownie points. My only problem is that I can't seem to find anywhere that sells them. Where can I get myself one of these systems? I was initially looking at the Galaxy 16+/18 systems as (if I'm not wrong) they also allow wireless components to be added too. I'm looking to install a hard wired system but would like the option of wireless components to be later added. The Honeywell site seem to promoting the "Vista" systems, has anyone had any experience of these? Am I restricting myself too much with the brand? Any advice, pointers and help would be greatly appreciated!
bellman Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 As mentioned above the Galaxy range is designed for professional installation. You would be better off with one of the Texecom range as they are easy for the DIYer to get hold of and come with installation manuals that have clear connection diagrams. If you do decide to go down this route try the Texecom premier as it has most of the functionality of the Galaxy but at a fraction of the price. It also allows connection of radio peripherals. Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
parmar Posted December 19, 2006 Author Posted December 19, 2006 Thanks for the pointer guys, much appreciated. As for the electrics, I didn't mean "electrics" more just a case of being competent with wiring stuff up..
