bellman Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 3 calls in the first 2 hours of the last shift Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
Guest Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Not had any calls but back to work Today. Was going to be Yesterday but I didn't feel up to it!
Selsport69 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 This is more for the guys that work for the nationals. Dont you thinkit would be better doing a night shift instead of doing call. I tried to get it implemented when Iworked for IES but it was turned on deaf ears. Whats your thoughts? Kev
norman Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Used to do a night shift for a previous company, I'm up for it but we certainly don't get enough work to justify it at the mo, then what happens RI's on 24 prems??? Southerners do it tho' Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
smartmart Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 god i used to work for a alarm company that also incorparated a locksmith firm.... so not only did i get people ringing me up saying" my alarms ringing and i cant stop it" at 2am in the morning getting out of bed getting half way there and then getting a phone call saying its stoped now (20 min cutt off in thoses days)dont bother and then getting a phone call 25 mins later (DIFFERENT VOICE SAME ADDRESS?????LOL) my alarms ringing and i cant stop it.... yes i can come out its gonna be x2 call out charges... not only that i got people ringing me up saying im locked out can u help me..... it was the worst thing in the world at xmas and new year ...
Guest G.J.M Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Being on call Christmas eve t'ill 8:30AM Christmas day, and now with work as normal starting in the morning, this seems to have been a very quick Christmas break for me this year. And I imagine quite a few here as being in the same situation as myself. But I'm starting the new year with a whole week off work.. so there is light at the end of the tunnel.. Also my callout rote changes for the better from it's current 1 in 6 covering a massive area (over 1000 sq miles), to a more manageable 1 in 3 covering just 3 local areas (100 sq miles).. Im looking forward to 2007, it can't be as hectic as last year. unlucky. not on call this year and not back until 8th
secom van man Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 hmmm i'm working new years eve too and working for a national we look after a few pub chains up and down the uk i had to replace a pa button in a very busy bar area on a england world cup match ....yuk hate football
breff Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Oh well, pass the beer nuts, I think I'll do my 4 nights on call(optional) next week, take the 200 big ones standby and hopefully sort out the 16 calls(approx) over the phone. Marvellous. Shame I wont be able to drink for 4 days though The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
