Guest pleb Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Hi, we have recently moved into a property with the above alarm system installed, i had not had chance to check out the system due to moving and all the christmas mayhem untill yesterday. the problem i have is that it seems the last tenants turned the system off by the mains? switch, i turned the switch back on and the alsrm souded untill i entered the default No. removed by moderator number, which silenced the alarm. but after doing this the keypad seems "locked", buttons dont respond once pressed etc. the keypad stays lit, but the "tamper" and "attack" LED's stay illuminated. along with the DAY and POWER LED's. instruction manual seems useless, also the "helpline" number printed on the back has had an engaged tone for the last two days, none of the installer details have been entered in any documentation. i have searched the net for contact details for the company who make this alarm to see if they could remedy said problem with no luck tbh im not even sure who manufactures this alarm, as whenever i type anything in from the manuals the net finds very little about the product. any help greatly recieved

Guest rjbsec Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Looks like the system was switched off because it had problems - indicated by the tamper and attack lights being illuminated, they probably mean that those circuits are at fault. Now it may simply be a question of fitting a new battery and resetting the panel but I would strongly recommend seeking the assistance of a local installer who will be able to check and reinstate (or replace) the panel for you - choose an SSAIB or NSI approved installer.
Guest Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Sounds like someone has removed a panic button at some point, or damaged a cable to one, creating tamper and attack alarms. When this panel is in tamper mode the keypad is locked out until it is rectified I believe. If this is the case you need to either reinstate the panic button or amend the wiring to suit the new specification of the system. I would recommend calling an engineer to do this as the system sounds like it could with a checking over, something which I would always recommend a new homeowner does when they inherit an alarm with an unknown history.

Guest pleb Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 thanks for the replies. im normally good at anything i set my mind to but having never touched an alarm system before i will heed your words and seek profesional advise. i thought there may be a battery down, due to the alarm silencing instantly when i turn the main switch off, as this would not happen if the back up battery was in sound working order? i have been round the property looking for any cut/tampered with wiring and have not noticed anything out of the ordinary. also, does anybody have any contact details for the manufacturer of this unit? as the not so "helpline" is still a no no and just gives out a constant engaged tone also could anybody pass me contact details or recomend me a qualified installer/fitter/engineer type person who could help me with my problem. im based in the stockport area in the northwest. i would like this unit back up and running asap for piece of mind and also so i can change any default codes that are present. many thanks
