Craig B Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Hi all Can anyone advise of any kit on the market for amplifying RS232. This may sound a strange request but I have a genuine reason for wanting to do this.I know manufactures normal recommended distance for using 232 is normally only between 10 and 20 metres but I've not had any problems running 50metres on belden twisted pair(from a digital recorder). But using another make of matrix and keyboard I'm getting a delay.Any ideas, sorry i'm being a bit vague. Any help on the 232 front gratefully appreciated.
Andy D Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Hi Craig A pair of rs232 to rs422 converters may do the job if no hanshake is required LINK - http://www.bb-europe.com/productsubcat.asp...p;TrailType=Top What is the kit you are connecting ? Andy.
Craig B Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 Hi.Had considered converting from 232 but i'll need to convert back to 232 at other end again.Basically i'm using wireless 232 which is working fine on a remote 232 keyboard for a dvr but using a matrix and keyboard i'm getting a delay, not sure if the 232 out of the matrix is weaker than from the dvr.Sorry I cant be more informative but this is new thing.
Andy D Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Hi Craig If the problrm is a weak rs232 signal, This may do the trick LINK it could also be the wireless link, as some links will not operate well above 4800 baud. also is the link full or half duplex as this could also cause problems Andy.
