dm360
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am installing an alarm system for the first time (groan I hear!). All is going well apart from the simpest of things...how do you wire a magnetic door contact? The ones I received from CK have 5 screw type connections and NO instructions! I believe they have 2 circuits, 1 alarm circuit and 1 tamper circuit? No power?? To which connectors do I attach which circuits? and do I just strip the wire and attach them by screwing them under the washer? Could anyone please explain how these are wired up from the very basic principles please? - I would be most grateful!!! DM
camerabloke
it depends what panel you are fitting in double pole you use the 2 lighter colour terminals for the circuit and twist the tamper pair together under one of the remaining terminals Eucam Security Systems 0845 4630 746 www.eucam.co.uk

The 2 chrome ones are for the alarm circuit and connect to the magnetic reed switch. The other 3 are for anything you want; normally the 2 wires of the tamper circuit would be joined on one of them. And yes, strip the wires and use the screw/washer to retain it. I expect the pro's will "tin" the end with a little solder? I just twist the strands gently between my fingers. amateurandy
exactly, guy asks a question, getstold to get a pro in AGAIN. shot down in flames Thanks, I agree. I remember a while back, one of the Mods saying (FIRMLY) something along the lines of "If you can't answer the question constructively, don't bother". So far, the guy has asked only one simple question....................... (and we've both tried to answer it)

AR, I can now see that the 2 chrome contacts make a circuit within the MRS - so it all makes sense. Thanks!
