Guest ADAM Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 Hi, I need some help/advice on purchasing and setting up an alarm for my home. I have been looking around the net for an alarm to be installed DIY, one system I like the looks of is the ADE Optima G3 Alarm, but I would like to get some feedback before I purchase it, any responses are appreciated. I have a 3 Bed house and being unemployed at the moment, I have too much time on my hands and want a little project to keep me buisy. Im looking for: easy installation, reliability and a hard-wired system. Has anyone had experience installing this control pannel and would you reccomend it to an average competent D.I.Y-ER. I see the system is approved to the old BS4737 standard which I understand is the professional and not DIY BS mark, does this mean it will be harder to setup? The kit I intend to buy is listed on: www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/TSPRO1.html Any other controll box/system reccomendations (& suppliers) would be greatly apprecaited. Thanks in advance.
Service Engineer Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 All the equipment specified on that link is quite good stuff, obviously there`s better equipment around but you pay for what you get. You may want to add a few extra PIR detectors to the kit though. The optima G3 is still fitted by many professional installers, its cheap and reliable. You should be able to install and set up this equipment without too many problems, but if you get stuck anywhere along the way just ask in here, most of the engineers here are familliar with ADE equipment. ........................................................
