Guest andybram Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 Hi, I am looking for a good quality wireless alarm system that is going to be reliable and hassle free. I have been looking at the Powermax as it seems to provide all of the features I require. Can anybody recommend a decent supplier or provide there views on this system, i have been looking at HTA Systems website and they seem to have a good set of system kits. I am particularly interested in the pet sensors as I have a cocker spaniel and 2 cats and would like to know if anybody has experienced false alarms due to there pets. Also is the wireless range good or do you have to play about with the internal location of the control panel. Ideally I would like to mount it just inside the front door which is not central, but is near my electric consumer unit and telephone line, therefore installation would be fairly straight forward. Any experiences or comments would be much appreciated, as i have just moved house and am looking at buying a new alarm system asap. Thanks
Steve K Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 Powermax is supposed to be a very good systems, and HTA are very good with Powermax. There are not many things HTA can't do with Powermax products. They apparently remodel some of the bits and bobs to make specialist covert kit that the Police use. It's not the cheapest, but if you're looking for a speech dialler etc, then this will be good. However, take a look at FM Electronics . This kit is very easy to use, very reliable, and you can have Pet Friendly PIR's, a bolt on speach dialler, and a conventional SAB Bell. The Powermax needs a seperate power supply unit. The FM4000 will do most domestic situations. Alternatively, have you considered a hard wired system? Prices will be cheaper, and you will not have the hassle of battery changes every year or two. We can hide away wires in places you wouldn't imagine! Decisions Decisions! Guest Andyp Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 Andy I recently used a Powermax in a friends flat. What a nightmare! It actually works ok-ish now but if you intend to use an external siren make sure you read all of the instructions and allow for an extra 12v psu. Also make sure that at no stage do you disconnect the one hard wired cct as the panel (somehow, according to Visonic) takes a reference from this cct and wont work properly without it. Overall, not bad, but try Scantronic! Andy
