James i do not no what you are going on about, as per norm you have gone on one without reading it properly.

we have been told by SSAIB every 3 years, and we don't charge for bats for contract customers so why would we do it?

Yes someone did say not to bother with tamper if it was global, dave[if you had bothered to read it]. we still use global tamper on domestics, and when did i say it should not be used?

It would be good in future if you could actually read things before going off on one.

Trying to make someone look foolish in the public forum without getting your facts straight has the reverse effect.

My comment about global tamper was aimed at DiY'ers. A pro will install the system at a higher standard and will be able to fault find an interminant fault more effectively. The amount of DIY systems I have gone to when the PIR lid wasn't screwed up properly, or the cable under the gripper has spiked the cable. The DIY'er had no chance of finding it, not a prayer.

As for the 3 year battery change, give a regulation number. If it is not EN the SSAIB have no right to say 3 years. I would have thought if it was EN then James would know reg, paragraph, chapter, verse, sentance etc... Have you asked the SSAIB why three years? I won't be changing mine until 5 or they fail the ACT.

cheers

Dave

To anyone who is interested?...

One final thought, with the inherent weaknesses of the system, the fact that during testing, my neighbours have not batted an eye lid, or anyone passing by in my nice middle class town have felt moved to say anything to a bloke looking like a thief, meddling with an alarm on the outside of a house - has led me to believe that no-one would care less if it went off! And I have only felt compelled to complete it because I started so I would finish! Nothing can replace good security around your house like lights, good fences and strong doors. I suggest you carry out a security review first - think about how a thief would get in and what he would use. I reckon a basic alarm is pretty nugatory. Alternativily, if you want good automatic security then you might have to go down the route of auto diallers and paying a subscription for someone to come out an have a look each time it goes off etc.

Pictures ! pictures !

No ? ok :(

Unfortunately it is always problematic to show pictures of a current security system for obvious reasons. Maybe only the panel then ?

Congratulations for your install ! :)
