Guest RICHL Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I got this email the other day: From: "postcards.com" <postcards@postcards.com> Add to Address BookAdd to Address BookDate: Sun, 28 Jan 2007 19:43:27 +0100 (CET) You have received a postcard from a family member! You can pick up your postcard at the following web address: http***** If you can
norman Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Erm, would that not be spam then? Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Guest Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I've deleted loads. The only e-cards I get are Cbeebies ones from the Nephews, and the rest of the family either ring me or don't speak to me. If someone were to be sending me ecards it wouldn't be to the email address that only appears on the website, it would be the one that all have in their address books.
Guest Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Well I followed the link and cut & pasted the ID into the wotsit and apparently there wasnt a card for me anyway. The address that I received this on is the same one that I am registered with an ancestry type board, and thought it might have been a long lost cousin. Obviously not. Hope you ran the latest virus definitions on it before opening it!
Rich Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 It is spam and it is intended to spread viruses as pete has pointed out. Usually ecards will say who they have been sent from, I have had quite a few like this recently, just delete them without opening them. Not only are they spam and virus links, you have also probably confirmed that the email it was sent to is currently live and ready for more spam and viruses to be sent to it.
