zebedee Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Hi Intelligent people. I am an electronics engineer & need to install an alarm to my house. I want to go for a wired one as I do not want to keep changing batteries & once it is in who needs to change anything (never understood the need for wireless alarms...... apart from getting airborne interference...) I was looking at the Intellisense 800L package from CPC. Is this any good? My only experience with alarms is servicing my parents Racal system. Any constructive recommendations are welcomed. Keep up the good work.

Hello Zebedee, welcome to the Magic Roundabout OK, constructive comment, phrased as a question. Your wording IMPLIES you want to do it yourself (maybe not?). If so, why? e.g. fancy a challenge, can't afford a pro, etc. Footnote: I'm an IT person and did it myself for cost reasons (unemployed and fighting an employment tribunal case at the time) following a break-in. What I've learned is that risk assessment, correct design and a professional install are worth a LOT and cost relatively little.
zebedee Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 Thanks for the help. Where is the best place (cheapest?) to get these from? Where did you get your brochure from & (is it nice & glossy?

I have seen so many cheap chinese products that have virtually no solder holding the joints or looks like somebody has thrown solder at them......
Jeff C Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 This is not an advert. Try www.brewtime.co.uk. I bought my Texecom Premier from there (and ebay). Be careful of ebay though, because as I found out some of the equipment I bought from there, while a great price, was not the most current version. Software/Hardware versions can change frequently.
