cheekygrommet Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 help please I live in a semi detached house with the upstairs being a loft conversion. The roof is slated and the gable end wall does not face the front of the plot and is therefore not very visible from the road. If I site the bell box on the front of the house, the only vertical wall space means the box will be only 8 -9 feet off the ground, and therefore more accessible to tampering. Is there any preferred method of mounting the box on the sloping roof, or is my only option to use the less visible gable end wall (two stories high)? thanks in advance

A dummy one and a real noisy one? There's a thread (maybe several) elsewhere on the ease or difficulty of having 2 live bell boxes on a DIY system.

magpye Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Hi, cheekygrommet why not put the 'real' sounder on the gable end (get a loud one) and an identical looking 'dummy' on the lower front of the house, but, wire a tamper switch to this box so that if it is played with it will activate the system - sorted. Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.
cheekygrommet Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 Hi there thank you for all your good advice, I like the idea of two boxes and will use the tamper switch approach as well thanks again
