OOPS! Sorry I *thought* I was vague enough with my post about defaulting the panel. My bad! I guess even a little bit of information could be usefull to the wrong type. Once again - Sorry!

And to answer a few questions:

No, the Galaxy panel is installed at my mother's house, I live elsewhere (I moved out years ago) and MY house has the Optima panel installed.

I Don't know if it was a dealeship that *installed* the system, but it was ordered from //.National Installer.// directly, and always serviced / fixed by guys driving //.National Installer.// vans, who I assume are directly affiliated with //.National Installer.// (unless the dealerships are allowed full //.National Installer.// logos on their fleet vehicles?).

I was not slating //.National Installer.// as such, just the morons who installed the system. I Know people who are very happy with their //.National Installer.// installs, and thats why they were chosen for this install.

And finally, the reason that the panel was NOT DEFAULTED at the end of the service contract was that //.National Installer.// were Supposed to come out and uninstall all the equiptment, they never came! A call was made 6 months later to ask when this system was being removed, they informed us they knew nothing about a removal date for the system and would check. 8 months later and we still have not heard from them, So I think it's safe to say that they do not want this system back.

The reason I asked about defaulting is because I currently need to remove the telephone line from the system, as it's fed directly from the main phone jack, and it's causing problems with an ADSL connection. Removed line = panel going ape again and screaming the house out until reset ( it happend before when there was a fault on the phone line, not so much fun at 2 am ! ). Eventually the panel will be reinstalled, rewired and attached to an ADSL filter, and programed to dial two mobile numbers upon alarm condition. OR it will go straight in the bin and a decent panel fitted by a local firm to replace it.

Thanx for the replys, I will leave it up an engineer to disconect and default the panel, until I get the whole lot re-cabled (system cost over 3K for the time it was installed and monitored, and it ONLY got used half a dozen times until we could not trust the damn thing anymore, so I refuse to spend anymore money on this thing than is really needed.)

Please leave this in place for a day or so until those who asked questions / commented on my post have a chance to read this. After that , Please feel free to remove this post as I know it's way off topic for the forum - I just wanted to get my side of things out. :) Thanx and Sorry for the trouble my post caused.

Oh, and one more thing, I might ask about a few different panels, I'm a landlord and have a number of properties with alarms installed, some I had installed by a couple of local firms, and some were installed by tenants of their own choosing (one just got a cheapo wireless install, personally I don't know why they bothered.... I doubt I will ask anything of that one if left behind! ).

hi 'silicon skum,

thankyou for comming back and clearing the air.

to exsplain our fears, we know it's not unusual for low skilled engineers/DIY to seek high end help (which they should obviously not have access to) in these forums by the back door, so i hope you understand we have to be very careful about this, might sometimes seem insulting but it is not the intent.

i'm sure we all hope you get a better service from your next alarm provider, and as pro's we are always dismayed by bad service reports, especially concerning 'badged' companie's (i'm not a badged one).

if so inclined and i urge, report them to the NSI as they are Gold members, your not causing trouble thats what it is there for and it's the biggest reason for the NSI and SSAIB to exist - quality control and resolving any such issue's.

whatever you decide i and i'm sure my peer's wish you well.
