newlandsandy Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Hi Guys - hope I'm in the right forum for this question ! I have had a problem with my system and have had to replace the battery and the panel. The system seems to work OK now but only from the battery, there is no mains power. I have tested mains input all the way to the transformer and can see a 240 volt supply all the way. On the output side however, there seems to be nothing (should be 18.5 V I think) and the green LED on the power board is not lit. I have attached a picture of the power board for info and wondered if anyone could help with diagnosis and where I might get a replacement board if you agree it's u/s Thanks in anticipation Andy

Please take extra care due to dangerous level of voltage!!
MissEllie Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Hate to jump in when I'm so new here but please don't worry about the board until , as said , you check the transformer , they're a lot cheaper to replace but make sure the mains in is totally isolated first . If you've got a multimeter , check the board where the connection wires from the transformer are , if you haven't got the right AC it's definately the tranny Go carefull , mains voltage hurts , sorry if it's granny and eggs , if you knew this already ignore me If you can't take a joke there's not a lot of point reading my posts is there ?
Guest anguscanplay Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 STOP STRAIGHT AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! looking at the picture you posted and zooming in using picture viewer can you confirm the big fuse above the glass fuse should be there it look like a 5amp mains fuse and the fuse holder looks like the one beneath it ie 20mm glass fuse there should be a value written either near the fuse holder or on the pcb
MissEllie Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 CONFIRM THAT ,, DO NOT POWER UP Hadn't taken a close up of the pic till now but you're risking a big bang and in the very least a blown board , please do NOT switch on with that there , please check the rating first , it looks like a mains fuse and will cause you a lot of grief If you can't take a joke there's not a lot of point reading my posts is there ?

You appear to have an incorrect fuse in the pcb fuse holder - the top one. That type of fuse is usually found in the fuseholder by the terminal block.

MissEllie Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Hard to generalise when he seems to know what voltages are expected and has traced 240 to the Tx , but I am a little concerned because he'll have to work on the 240 side , maybe some clarification of abilities is needed first If you can't take a joke there's not a lot of point reading my posts is there ?
