flumpuss Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Hi We have inherited a ade optima compact with a mind of its own.It has recently started going off at all hours of the day and night,we need to disable it completely. We have no manual or any instructions at all.If we take the fuse out and take the battery out of the control panel will this stop it? Is there another battery in the bell box that needs taking out?
Guest anguscanplay Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 unfortunatly we cant asnswer your exact question on an open forum it would be favuorable to locate a local firm and have the system checked and rectified as a working system it always suprises me how many posts start with an inherited system that hasnt been checked but it does sound as if you have the code numbers and i am assuming you havnt got a service scheme running currently

If you try to disable the alarm, remember that they are designed to resist attack by burglars so it will probably go off. As a minimum the bell will sound for about 20 minutes annoying your neighbours; it may go off constantly until the battery runs out. Attempting to disable the bell box without knowing what you're doing can be dangerous - imagine a very loud noise going off next to you while you're at the top of a ladder! If you don't have instructions and don't know what you're doing in all honestly the ONLY sensible choice is to call out a professional. Call 2 or 3 and ask what they would charge.

flumpuss Posted March 16, 2007 Author Posted March 16, 2007 Thanks for your replies. It does sound a bit too risky to attempt ourselves, we will get someone who knows what they are doing. We have the code to stop the noise but its the poor neighbours I was thinking of when it goes off in the night! Thanks again.
