djrock Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Hi all, I was told if the parking ticket goes to court and they have a photo of the ticket attached to the vehicle taken by a digital camera it will not stand up in court because digital photography can be easily doctored. djrock
Tallbloke Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 Some interesting replies. I wouldn't condone fraud BUT given that some wardens are seemingly up for some themselves you have to be aware of the regs to minimise the risk of being shafted. Anyone see the BBC Whistleblower programme? Undercover footage of wardens taking bungs, arranging theft of a motorbike etc. Confirmed what everyone suspected, although denied by the authorities, that they were incentivised to write as many tickets as they can. Their employers and those they contract to; councils etc. are happy to look the other way because it's a nice earner for them. When wardens were operated by the police, they were a lot more lenient and would give you some leeway when unloading kit or using ladders.

Numberplate in the window? Or what about putting the ticket next to the tax disc?Reason I say this is at one time you could get a car parking ticket if your ticket was displayed upside down! I used to display my tax disc upside down as a 2 fingers up to tone and TJ untill someone told me I can get done for that as well! not had to test it yet, but at least i'd have some evidence in my favour instead of their word against mine. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

STEWENG Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I parked my car this weekend, went to buy a ticket and got chatting to a friend for a couple of minutes. I got distracted, put my ticket in my pocket, went back to the car, locked it up and went shopping. I got back to the car to see a yellow ticket on my screen. There was an old display ticket on the floor and thought it had dropped off so the warden couldn't see it. It wasn't till later on I realised it was in my pocket. What do I do? Is it legal to display in the rear screen if the car is parked nose in, surely the warden will only take a picture of the front of the vehicle?
amateurandy Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 What do I do? There's an appeal process, so use it. Write in and tell them the truth. My son parked in Westminster the other day, paid correctly and came back within time - all totally valid. But while he was gone they "bagged" the meter and ticketed the car! I said that not only should he appeal, he should make a formal complaint of fraud and ask what disciplinary action was being taken against the staff involved.
STEWENG Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I remember driving in Paris and seeing people literally parking in the middle of the road because there were no spaces left by the kerb! Our cities are still grid locked most of the time and we have a high accident rate, do we really need so many traffic wardens? Are they doing us any good at all? If there is a real obstruction then fair enough but you generally call the police anyway don't you if there is a real obstruction? Has any one seen the scene in Lock Stock, I saw it in the cinema and the whole place shook with laughter!!
