dannynolan
We inherited a Scantronic 9800 with our new house. This afternoon the keypad alarm went off repeatedly with the code bF flashing. We have now turned off the mains electric to the alarm, now the power light and the code Lb are flashing. We understand this means the battery needs replacing - can we do this ourselves? Is the alarm likely to go off again when the battery drains further or not? Basically we don't want the alarm going off every five minutes until we (or an engineer) replace the battery. Many thanks in advance.
camerabloke
you can do this yourself, but be careful as mains voltages are present. you may have a problem whereas the charging circuit may have blown due to the age of the battery, in which case an engineer is advised Eucam Security Systems 0845 4630 746 www.eucam.co.uk

Now that the battery is low will the keypad alarm start going off again as the battery charge drops further? I can't replace the battery before tomorrow at least and I'm worried the keypad alarm might go off every five minutes throughout the night tonight. camerabloke
i very much doubt it, unless you have power cut. but if the panel charging circuit is fried, maybe im afraid Eucam Security Systems 0845 4630 746 www.eucam.co.uk
dannynolan
If anyone can recommend a good engineer in/around Enfield (North London/Middlesex) I may have a bit of business for them. Edit I found a local chap from the SSAIB website. Thanks in any case
