Hi

I am fitting a replacement siren/beacon to my Optima XM panel.

The replacement siren is an Initial ( Ariteca-s293).

I am struggling with the wiring. Help really appreciated.

The Siren beacon has the following contacts:

1 and 2 marked Speaker

3 and 4 marked Flash+and - I presume these attach to the beacon in the siren box

5 and 6 marked Tamper Loop

7 and 8 marked Input Power - and +

9 marked Siren hold off voltage

10 marked Beacon hold off voltage

The optimaXM has the connections available:

strobe +

strobe -

T tamper return

A 0 volts

D 12V +VE

B Trigger -Ve

+13v output

- 13v output

Set +VE

Many thanks in advance

Have you got the Engineering Manual for the panel? That describes in a bit more detail what the connections are for.

I don't think Set is likely to be relevant.

The tamper loop should be from A (0v) to (5 or 6) and back from (6 or 5) to T.

D (+12v) presumably goes to 8 and A (0v) to 7.

So maybe you need to link 7 to 5 or 6 as appropriate?

Is "Beacon/Flash" the strobe, if so then those two pairs just connect up + to+ and - to -.

The manual for the Siren should then tell you what its connections are and which of the above are used, if not the first place to ask would be whoever supplied it.

You need the manual to explain how the hold-off's work, but you probably need B connected to both the hold-off's.

Any Pro's care to give the right answer, that's based on my Accenta which is similar.

What's the speaker for? Does it actually have a speaker in it?

The 13v connectors are for powering PIR's; nothing to do with the bell/siren.

The bottom 4 terminals labelled beacon and speaker should already have the strobe and speaker wired into them.

More to the point, where did you get the sounder?

You appear to be referring to the labels on the new siren; presumably it's not connected to anything yet.

he means that the siren has the strobe and speaker , contained within the siren, connected to these terminals

Ah, I see.

A bit confusing (to me) as the O/P didn't refer to those terminals in that way, in fact not even to all of them.

Firstly - thanks to "AmateurAndy" for the only genuine attempt to answer my question. You area credit to the internet community.

The professionals have simply doubted my honesty.

For the record my secondhand siren was purchased on Ebay from a seller who seems to have an excellent record. I think it is a medium a lot of you already use judging by the many thousands adverts from within your industry. If someone from your professional body cares to contact me I will gladly give the sellers details - but Im not going to disclose private details in a public forum.

If this is the attitude of the professionals then I do not understand why you have a DIY section in the first place.

Once again - thanks Andy, I prefer goodhearted attempts of the ameteur.

Graham, you dont have to answer to anyone with regards to where you got your siren.

you are correct though. this is a DIY area and as such i would like to think you will get a decent answer here.

i put the warning in to stop it going off topic as many other posts have relating to bell boxes and where they came from

hi Andy,

you just gotta read a little better matey, from o/p 1# -:

1 and 2 marked Speaker

3 and 4 marked Flash+and - I presume these attach to the beacon in the siren box

these will normally be the factory connected wiring, marked so the assembler in the factory can put the wires in for you
