Guest anguscanplay
Firstly - thanks to "AmateurAndy" for the only genuine attempt to answer my question. You area credit to the internet community. The professionals have simply doubted my honesty. For the record my secondhand siren was purchased on Ebay from a seller who seems to have an excellent record. I think it is a medium a lot of you already use judging by the many thousands adverts from within your industry. If someone from your professional body cares to contact me I will gladly give the sellers details - but Im not going to disclose private details in a public forum. If this is the attitude of the professionals then I do not understand why you have a DIY section in the first place. Once again - thanks Andy, I prefer goodhearted attempts of the ameteur. Graham1111 hi graham we doubt your honesty precisaly because we are the profesionals its nothing personal would you be happy if someone asked " ive got a bell from graham1111 how do i disconnect it?" as we said the other day the topic is done to death it may be better to pm one of the members who would help rather than have this kind of info out in the public forum not me though !!!!!!!! with respect angus

Re eBay: Did the unit come with manuals and if not was this clear and the problems this might cause? Did the seller explain that it was a professional-type unit? Did you ask him for installation advice and if so what was the response? Easy to ask in hindsight, but a truly "excellent" eBay trader would cover all this. My only other comment on eBay (which I use quite a bit) is that an "excellent record" isn't that easy to judge. I've given accurate and fair negative feedback to a volume seller who let me down and received total abuse in return; appealing to eBay achieved nothing. It's often a brave (or foolish) person who does anything other than give meaningless positive feedback.

Graham1111 Hi Graham, with all due and greatest respect sto you, the siren you have bought has a trade name on it of a national and well known company. as trade members, we know for sure that company do not sell their siren covers to any other company. so please understand we are not suspecting you, but the vendors sources because of this as they may be suspect, and you are albeit unwittingly possibly handling stolen goods. the siren may have been removed normally during a takeover by another company, and their engineer is selling it on Ebay knowing it will have some 'clout', or was not simply not recovered when that company was advised to so. might even have been seized and desposed of quite legally due to bankrupsy proceedings, who knows but obviusly we can not risk compunding suspected illigal acts within a security forum. i trust you now understand our reservations, and my best advice to you is you should check on its true legal ownership, as it is not unknown for a companies employee to sell off 'shrinkage' stock on Ebay. regs alan i'm closing this topic for the above concerns - Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
