arfur mo Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Yes that's what I reckoned, One of them even said that my 9200 panel didn't comply with current legal requirements... whatever he assumed they were.I am opting for a Texecom box... Thanks for the help. Phil. hi phil, to clarify, what they mean is not compliant to todays regs, but nothing is 'illigal' about the panel you can get jailed for though . for instance if yoy wanted remote monitoring yes it would need to be changed. newer panels have new gizmo's on them, like better setting options and several part sets, fob operation and even voice dialers built in. new and old alike though they all have something in common - i.e. they operate a siren on forced entry regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
antinode Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 There is nothing wrong with your 9200 (provided it is in good working order of course!), and pretty much any bell box will wire into it. for instance if yoy wanted remote monitoring yes it would need to be changed Not strictly true Trade Member

antinode Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 You could have remote monitoring (Dualcom or Redcare GSM if you wanted) on any system. You would only need an upgrade if you were applying for a URN for police response to the system. Trade Member

arfur mo Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I thought the fella was only asking for a bell box to swap out?? hi Cubit, he is but look at post 7# par 2 (i sounds like dot cotton/branning and quoting from her bible now). regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

There was no mention of extra features/options required. A
arfur mo Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 To me, based on initial post, that sounds like chancers trying their luck at increasing potential sale. There was no mention of extra features/options required.A has been known, so might well be and looks that way. i'd allow some leeway though, as we don't know the site or the quality of installation. the conversation can be accidentally distorted to the client due to misunderstandings. could be there is no spur for instance so engineer says thats 'illegal' but client assumes the panel is, just an example not saying it happened here though. i bet most have been on calls where you explained carefully everything the best you can, only later to discover the clients got the wrong end of the stick completely. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
