New Panel To Replace A Veritas 8c

Hi all,

I have a veritas 8C panel that doesnt seem to respond to any engineer codes or set ups. It also doesnt seem to power the PIRs anymore. In essence I think its knackered!

How compatible are the PIRs, bellbox and door contacts between panels..? I'd like to buy a new control panel but I am unsure if the PIRs etc will be ok. They are pretty basic looking with a live, nuetral, control wire at present.

Any advice appreciated.

How old is the system?

When did it last work?

What symptoms did it display?

When was it last serviced?

When was the battery last changed?

Hi ,

Is this the same system you were having trouble with in January?.

Did you get it all working again?.

Regards.

How old is the system? Dont know it was here when I moved in

When did it last work? Dont know it wasn't armed when I moved in - didnt have the codes. Redecorated and wired the house during which time it was powered down.

What symptoms did it display? Got the engineers manual for it..default engineer code etc didnt work. Got hold of the original installer wo knew the engineers code (must use the same all the time!). Box wouldnt respond to any engineer programming, I couldnt reset the user code, couldnt do a walk test or anything. Exterior bell box sounded on power up, couldnt reset it. Had to go up the ladder the reset it manually via te tamper. I tried disconnecting all the zones and put a loop of wire in to simulate a closed circuit..everythng still the same. Powers up ok and seems to enter the enineers/setup mode.

When was it last serviced? Dont know

When was the battery last changed? Dont know

thanks

have a look on the installer listings on these forums.

I suggest you get an installer in as from what you have said, your initial diagnosis may have caused you further problems, yes this type of budget panel is not too expensive. But you do still need to be able to fix the original fault and you dont know what that is and engineer would be money well spent.

hi kangerolf,

these panels like to be powered up in a specific squequence or the keypad micro and the main panel micro get all out of sync.

obviously if doing the following please take great care and have full respect for lethal potential voltages from the household mains supply. if you are not fully competent and proficient then please stay well clear for your own safety, and call an engineer.

i suggest get a new battery first, then from a completely powered down state (ignore the siren if wringing for the moment) restore power to the panel 1st, then connect the battery observing correct polarity, try the keypad to see if it responds.

this will most likely be amongst the 1st things an engineer will try to restore your system. if it fails completely to respond then you will need an engineer and/or new panel, other faults may have been introduced during you refurbishments, so tampers may be disturbed, or panic buttons pushed, so also see if they need resetting 9should not show red in thelittle window).
