As it's been sorted wouldn't it be a good idea to remove this guys mobile phone number from a public forum.

Number removed as requested, but I wasnt too worried about it being their, I was the only one that phoned after the message had been there several hours, also the types of people that come here after security advice arent what i`d consider a great threat to the chaps privacy.

It was a mobile number after all, not his home number.

I need help also with an Optima 2plus alarm system.

Does anyone know a solution to my problem below?

We have tried to change a pir sensor (without success). But all the zone lights show red when we try to set the alarm now. We wrote down all the wiring connections as we removed the sensor, but as the replacement wasn't working, we decided to put the old one back on.

Guess what, still the same. Damn thing! So all the zone lights on the panel show as red when you try to set the alarm and a different king of bleeping sound is heard from the box (like a fault bleep). So now we can't set it at all...

Incidentally none of the pir sensor flash anymore when you walk past them - so does this indicate a problem in the panel and not the actual sensor we tried to replace ???

I only have the user programming instructions guide, as the system was already installed when we moved in. I really need the full user/installation manual or any help/advice anyone can offer would be great.

Maybe the system needs a reset of somekind? Is their a master code to use?

Thanks everyone!

David.

You have blown the aux 12v fuse (1.6A 20mm) when you moved the detector .

that would make sense. Would I be right in saying this is the fuse inside the main control panel box? I did look (from memory) there is 2 small fuses on the board I think, both are clear. They did look ok to me, but I suppose it is difficult to tell.

What should I do, simply replace the PIR's then put in the new fuse?

btw - Thanks for your reply!

Hi , you dont need to replace the pirs , just the fuse , and yes its one of the 2 on the board , think its labled 12v / bell .

Be aware of hazardous voltages BTW.

Brill, thanks for your fast reply!!!

I did want to replace the pir's because they are all dis-coloured and have seen better days :~)

Would you advise I disconnect the power and the backup battery before replacing them though? Or is it simply too much hastle and best leave the yellow'y brown ones on?

I did call the engineers earlier, who suppose to be coming out tonight, but if its just a fuse replacement, then I'll try to do it myself first.

Thanks again for you help!
