arfur mo Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 I also said;"If you want a really cheap job not to standard but will work, buy a roll of 20mm copex flexible conduit and pull an alarm cable into it before burrying it >18" under ground. Copex is waterproof and as long as both ends are inside it should be ok, don't forget to use tampered joint boxes inside if you have too!" Armoured is the only cable suitable for direct burial so not overkill in any respect....... Edited typo. Copex is not imo tough enough for direct burial, it is a flexible tube to offer at best neatness rather than a mechanical protection solution, a spade or fork would easily slice straight through it. i also where did i say direct burial of cable? i suggested tubing specifically designed for the purpose and cable within it. armoured is expensive and requires some skill to terminate properly and safely. i'd prefer to take non-combatants along safer and easier route. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

My wholesaler(s) sell armoured to any cut length you want so it would be a toss up for me between armour, easy to install, or flaf about with bits of pipe and draw wires, armour every time for me! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Life is like a box of chocolates, some bugger always gets the nice ones!
