Hi there, please can someone help me with this query;

I have a Optima XM alarm box that came with the house and has been installed for a comfortable 15 years+. Yesterday the house mains supply was off for around 2 hours whilst some work was being done. When the power was restored i noticed that the control panel was not responding as i would expect. The symptoms are as follows;

The red power light and gree day lights are on as well as a red light in the Zone 1 "entry/exit" window.

The control panel key pad is not responding, not beeping when keys are pressed etc and i cannot set or reset the system.

At no point has the alarm sounded and there are no tamper or attack indicators lit.

I have tried turning the power off and back on again as you would expect, but the result is still the same. If anyone can give me any advice on how to begin troubleshooting this problem i would be eternally gratefull.

Hi srnomis,

It sounds like the battery has given up the ghost, When you power down do you disconnect the battery ? You may be better leaving the battery dissed untill a new one has been fitted, to save any further possible damage to the charging circuit.

I would recommend a good service if it has not been done in a while (or at all).

post your location on here and I am sure someone local to you will be able to offer their help.
