sd6446 Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 I am currently installing a Eurosec CPX alarm system, with 2 RKPs, and 2 G-Tag proximity detectors - one internal, one external. So far everything seems to be working ok, until I tried connecting one of the G-Tag prox detectors to one of the RKPs. This results in the backlight on both RKPs flickering at the same rate as that of the blue LED on the prox detector. I have tried both internal and external detectors and they both produce the same annoying effect. Has anyone else seen this before? Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
Wooly-bobs Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Take the supply from the Aux instead of the RKP 12v. Should help the problem.
sd6446 Posted May 8, 2007 Author Posted May 8, 2007 Take the supply from the Aux instead of the RKP 12v. Should help the problem. Many thanks for the quick reply Chris - it's a good suggestion. My only concern is that the G-Tag prox. readers connect to '0V', 'Set', 'Ant1' and 'Ant2' on the RKP, and not to the '12v'. However, do you think 'Set' is effectively the 12v supply, so could be substituted with the AUX from the main unit instead?

Thanks very much for clarifying this, as I had misinterpreted the original response. Sadly, I've just tried the suggestion, and wired the 12v RKP to the AUX 12v, and although this has improved the flickering, it is still very much noticeable. Also, I emailed Gardtec this afternoon, who responded very promptly with a suggestion to change the RKP 250mA fuse to a 1A - interesting idea - which also had a slight improvement (presumably due to a lower resistance?). Any other suggestions would be most welcome,
