sorry for sounding stupid but if i have wired the 2 cables to the line on the powermax panel can i not then just plug the other end into the phone socket using a phone plug, obviously going through an adsl filter. i have basically taken a phone extension cable cut end end off that would have had the extended socket and used the red and green wires to connect it to the control panel then plugged the other end into my adsl filter but still comes up line failure if someone would be good enough to talk me through it i would be extremely grateful.

not used these before, but on the few times i have had to use a phone lead instead of hard wire, it has always been red = A and black = B?

no rule to it as far as i know - risco is blue and white for example - should be the outside pair if that makes sense

guys not had chance to try it but could you please advise me if it will work with a phone plug on the end of the wire and which 2 wires to use as the book says red and green and someone else has said black and red please help.

they come in pairs - inside pair , outside pair as you look at the phone plug i assume you havnt got a test meter then

Hi Deano,

It will work with a plug but I now beg the question with out sounding rude get an engineer in that can help you. You have wasted how much time on this and only succeeded in pulling your hair out. Put a price on your time and work out how many hours you have spent on this and I bet you could have had the alarm installed for you. If you don't have the correct equipment to test the lines how can we help???

cheers

Hi i have just purchased the visonic powermax+ and have tried to connect it to the phone line using the red and green wires as directed in the manual. I am completely baffled it will not work at all have tried the autotest and that doen't dial out i have even deliberately set the alarm off and it still wont work. Can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong or if i need to do anything else. so confused.

I presume by now, you will have sorted it out!

Just in case you haven't, go and buy a modem lead from your local pc world/ currys/ etc.

Cut off the RJ 11 plug . Strip back that end a little and use the outer cores in the cable and screw them into the powermax connectors.

Then plug the BT plug end into your adsl filter and it should work.

We have fitted a few of these and apart from the manual being one of the worst I have ever seen, the equipment works really well.

Got it fixed yet?

Do as radiostar suggests. Buy a modem lead, cut off the RJ 11 plug (that's the small one) and connect the two outer wires (black and yellow on my cables) to the line terminals of the Powermax. These two wires are all you need to connect.
