Problem With My Mates Response Wireless Alarm

Where did DIY'ers come into it???

It is a DIY bit of kit, with a question posed in the DIY'ers section but that's it.

Perhaps a look here might add clarity.

it took a bit of time to get the first post, but now, where will it end.

? for you lot, if the op had posted the question and got nil responses, because nobody wanted to give a honest opinion, (in there opinions, and lets face it, thats all these are). what do you think they would have said about this site.....

life is about opinions, is it not, and where would we be if we all thought the same.

i would say a setting is not programmed in the installation manual....

That's a new one.

Care to explain how this can be acheived and/or what effect this may have??

I would suggest you contact the 'experts' on this range of panels

tec support for response

manuals for this panel are at

response manuals

As you will gather this type of panel is at a whole different level to that the majority of us work with day to day.

I would hazard a guess it is a programming issue but thats just a educated guess,

good luck

ps lads are we trying to get a rep for being disrespectful? , this is a the public forums & the DIY section.

I thought the whole point of this part of the site was to 'help' the public'.

We all know the level of expertise needed for this panel .

The original question was a simple one.

if you didnt know the answer why bother answering IMHO.

Thanks for this, I do like your last paragraph

For those who don't know, the last paragraph starts with 'ps'

Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.

so you see no difference in what a forum frequented by professionals should offer (i.e. sound informative and accurate advice) to that of a diy forum (ie shots in the dark by IT and space ship designers)?

thats very odd imo

thats my point exactly arfur - if TSI ( populated by alarm proffesionels ) says forget it its **** then really you should forget it its ****.Now any of the posters to this thread would have said the same to a member of the public but probably in a nicer way, Greytec ought to get trade approval then he could have posted in the trade section and we may have opened up to him about the reasons we consider it a poor panel

btw the screwfix forum ( im not a member ) is unmoderated and as they consider it to be a trade forum (and as polybear could verify) ignore public questions entirely or post personel attacks the best advice is still available here

the ask the trade site is mainly rejects from here and those who coulnt stand the pace elswhere and the advise they give should carry a govt health warning

yep im seen as a negative poster in the public threads but all im doing is telling it to them straight 99% of the time the only true answer you could give is " it needs to be seen by an engineer ................" but the other 1% is why i keep looking

sets the story straight ?

this forum has standards if nothing else, if a bit hard to detect sometimes.

the o/p is not trade as we know it, might be be a bonifide company or a start up, or a student doing a bit on the side, either way any advice in here should be professional and polite at all times and delivered with some decorum and at least some respect don't you think?

Always a good idea. Many assumed he was DIY, easily done considering the way the post was phrased. Based on previous information posted, perhaps it was not the best question to ask.

However, if that sort of tat was any good, trade would know about it. Conspicuous by its absence is any complimentary comment about the product. Even the righteous have avoided posting anything positive.
