Scantronic 9100 I installed in 1988 has fried components at D9 to D12 and TFXMR due to short / voltage spike following replacement of dead battery.

Q1 - Is is still possible to obtain a replacement main board

Q2 If not - what is recommended replacement control panel - Up to 6 zones is sufficient including entry plus usual alarm / bell / strobe outputs.

Advice most welcome

Thanks

Hi ,

Now would be a good time to upgrade your panel / system. If your present panel is hidden away under the stairs or in a cupboard , it may be worth having a remote keypad system installed, leaving the main box with the battery / wiring / mains connection under the stairs and fitting a remote keypad in a more convenient place , maybe at the side of the front door. For this situation a Texecom RV8 would suffice, or a Scantronic 9651.

If your panel is on view , you could fit a smaller compact panel , like the Scantronic 9448 or the texecom Compact. All offer simple setting and part-sets . chimes etc.

You don't say if you are diy or not , but it may be worth getting a few quotes for a complete new system.

Regards.

Thanks for fast response!

Am sparky so put original system in myself. All wiring, sensors, PIRs etc all in good nick so no need for complete set up.

Main box is under stairs but accessible. Will replace panel for now and maybe fit remote later - depends whether wireless or hard wired (carpets up job)

Scantronic served me ok before - so probably go for 9651. Does this come with battery charger transformer and key pad as one unit??

Hi ,

The systems with RKPs (RV8 , 9651) come as a blank end station with a wired remote keypad (6 core). So adding a keypad later is a no-no.If just swapping the panel then have a look at the Texecom Veritas 8 , this has onboard keypad , with the provision to add more RKPs later.

The Texecom is more installer friendly.

:hmm: most of the stuff we did in '88 has been ripped out & replaced once or even twice since
