Guest matt66 Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 What's best? buying or hiring a security system? Hello all Many thanks to responses to earlier post. after being burgled we are now the proud owners of no fewer than seven specs for alarms. you name it, we've been quoted for it. we've whittled it all down and have a favourite BUT we only hire the system and don't buy it outright. our impulse is to be unhappy about this. doesn't it leave us, the consumer, in a vulnerable position if the company puts monitering/maintanence charges up or goes bust? are we right to be cautious? do we need to start again and find another company or are we being overcautious? the company looks good, is a nacoss and bsia member... any advice? ta! Matt
morph Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 Buy Outright if funds allow. With most alarm companies now a days, outright purchase is the norm. If its the system you like, then why not ask some of the other firms if they are able to supply the same system alternatively ask the company that is renting the system, what it would cost to buy the system outright. Colin.
norman Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 Hi Matt, I personally would not want a rented system, It could cause problems in the future. As Colin say's ask the same company for the price for an outright purchase. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
