Lectrician Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 A PIR light fixed to an outside will will fall under part P only if the cable doesn't come straight through the wall into the fitting - If it ha sto traverse the wall first, it will come under part P. If the cable comes from/through a kitchen, bathroom, shower room, swim pool etc.....it will come under part p. If there is wiring already present in the shed, then even adding a spur for the alarm to the circuit will fall under part p, as garden buildings fall under part p. You can contact you local BCO office before starting the install, and get them to ispect and cert the job - you must inform them first, and most BCO's have no idea what they are doing when they attend......so it's always a smile to see. How much do you invisage a spark charging to install you a spur ready for the alarm? It wont be pocket money, but will certainly fall with in your 'refurb' budget I would think. camerabloke Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 hi sall, this one needs tidying up a bit, this is effectively/summer house used as an office, nothing unusual about that. it already has power to it, so lets assume that is all properly installed and RCD/MCB to the hilt, if not then O/P get it sorted. i'm curious why an alarm would be armed with you inside the 'office'? are you worried the wife might walk in when your secretary is taking down more than a few notes perhaps? if you have high value items like a safe they can be protected, it could also be part of the main house system and so allow you to set/unset from there. you seem to be putting budget before risk, although you might not have deep pockets it's a really bad move so get some proper on-site advice from a local company who will point out your best options, but do i think Eucam Security Systems 0845 4630 746 www.eucam.co.uk

radiostar Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Hi, I have a garden office which I need alarming, ideally I would like a remote keypad by the door, 1 PIR, a door contact and maybe a panic button. I also want it so that I can have it alarmed while i'm inside (PIR off). I know this will upset the professionals, it upsets me.... But. There is a system on the market called Visonic. wireless and comes with a trailing power supply fitted with a plug! You ought to be able to pick up the panel and its back up battery. a mag for the door and a pir for the interior for around your budget somewhere in the region of
