Lugsy I use a specialist test firm for my testing I am not getting into a debate but to the best of my knowledge you cannot have a 32amp ring even on a 30ms RCD with 1.0mm CPC however I will check with the as I say ALL they do is testing.

We await the translation into English

Simply that the installation would have been to the 15th edition not the 16th..

As I said a good sparky would point this out and recomend installing a suitable protective device but it does not "have" to be done at all......

A FULL PIR will be to BS7671 will it not ?? IE the 16th edition or maybe I am missing something. All PIR's that I obtain clearly state what is required to meet BS7671 in case the client wants to sell or rent an it will need to be up to date IE Rewired.

Now that simply depends on what the customer asks for dosen't it!

Yes a full PIR may "recomend" an upgrade but it does not "have" to be done in the case of CPC sizes that were up to the mark of the 15th edition a recomendation would be in order, it would still be electricially safe if everything is still up to spec.

I thought you didn't want to debate? :hmm:

How much of BS7671 do you quote as being retrospective then, all of it? I think you would lose customers pretty quick if you tried that one!

My last comment on this subject I upgrade ALL jubs to BS7671 and am booked up unto Sept at present. Everyone has their own way of working I also dont go in for price debates or price matching. This is my price take it or leave it. Nice to have a pleasant debate for once with no stupid comments. Thanks All.

Ok Woosh, you didn't say if you quoted all electricial work as needing upgrading if any part of the 16th edition has not been adhered to but think of this, you wire up a new house to the 16th for a good customer, the 17th edition comes out next year and you go back to the customer and tell him you need to fit extra RCD protection in the bathroom now as it dosen't meet BS any more......If I were the customer I would really question this sort of thing wouldn't you?

Good points raised though so thanks for your angle on it.

:)
