Texecom Cabling Query

Excuse my cynicsm but!!!

You want to do the job yourself and will get it checked afterwards by your brother who is not an installer but knows the industry??

To give you peace of mind you want a Free Quote??

Just who exactly is going to give you this free quote?? A local installer - who will give up his/her time to give you relevant advice and recommendations based on your requirements only for you to say 'thanks for that, now i can crack on with it myself'???

No doubt some on here will defend you but i fail to see why they should.

don't be so pois barooga,

hand on heart folks, who's never been to MFI got a kitchen/bathroom/bedroom cad plan and fitted themselves? who's never gone to Bennits or PC World got the low down and then bought the item off ebay?

to the O/P, i would add, that you may fit your system without ever having a problem, might even work if your broken into but if you do have a problem - what then?

you pay for what an engineer knows how to do, what not to do and how to fix it if it go's wrong, not just what they do to instal your system.

Guest Dave the alarm man
dealing with twits like me who want to do it themselves

TBH not that interested in domestic's, but what I would sugest is rig your choosen controls up on a bench long before nailing it on the wall lobing it in the loft, as you may well be surprised to what it can do

And who's been for a test drive at a dealer then bought privately, at an auction or at a "car supermarket".

So we look forward to you volunteering to pop round and do it then.

It's one thing getting a freebie. It's another thing entirely, bragging about doing it to the very people who may turn up.

And if i read it correcctly. OP said he is going to get it done - then says he's already had one.

Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional

I really wasn't expecting this, but maybe I didn't make myself clear; I've said someone offered to do it, but I haven't had them around. I was very clear about this being a self install and they offered to help. To me it seemed like good customer service considering I was talking about buying my kit from them, even if they weren't going to install it. The reason I haven't had them around is because they are a fair distance away from me and I didn't want to waste their time or put them to the effort; I know the difference between free advice and taking the p**s. It was just a throwaway line in my original post and I really didn't want to get into it because I just didn't feel it was relevant. I now regret even mentioning it.

Thanks to those who actually offered advice. It's appreciated.
