Guest stejrobbo Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 ive read in the forum that you should not run cables going to the detectors next to any lighting / socket cables because it could trigger a false alarm.......in this instance because the panel is in a porch the twin and earth run thro the wall threaded thro some piping it, would be dead easy to run all the wires for the detectors thro this pipe or should i put a smaller tube thro with all the detector wiring thro this to give it more insulation......hope you get it
ian.cant Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 NEVER RUN ALARM CABLES NEXT MAINS CABLES! Mains Voltages will induce AC onto your alarm cables and cause false alarms. In your case where you are contemplating running them together within a conduit, you are asking for big trouble. There are plenty of posts here as you have discovered pointing out the problems, im surprised you think your alarm cables will be any different.
Guest stejrobbo Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 thanks for that.......but how far away is ok
Guest Samholland Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Make sure your paying for decent PIR units is as important as the wiring runs. PIRs at 8quid are asking for trouble...
Guest stejrobbo Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 what are descent for a house detector in the kitchen
Guest Peter James Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 Optex RX 40s are definately very good detectors even reps from other companies reccomend them. Pete
morph Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 I agree with Rich, price shouldn't be the only reason you choose a detector, there are lots of quality manufacturers who spend a lot of money on R&D and this knowledge is put into there products regardless of where the products stand in their range. The more of something you buy the cheaper they become. Price is a factor, but you have to take the manufacturers pedigree into account and more importantly the detectors suitabillity for the Job. Colin.
