norman Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 oh dear oh dear Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Cubit Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 i do respect your knowledge which in general about locks, grills and safes etc, but when it comes down to Chubb locks used with alarm systems, and what goes wrong in relation to them you are simply no where near my own level of experince. What is it they say? Self praise is no praise.
Guest Oxo Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 My point was the lock was fitted incorrectly, then the remedial works lacking. Did I mention you in my reply personally? Let me know where I did please. Back to the door in question, even more so to move the strike and make the frame stronger than mess up an expensive bit of wood. You say they patched up a solid Beech door.................muppets. Again you try and cast dispersions on my skill set to yours. Again you assume your better. I especially like your mention of your visits due to the alarm being faulty due to the lock fitments and yet boast how good Chubb fitters and yourself are/were. Yet all these call outs......................I think I dont have to point out the "shot self in foot syndrome" to anyone. I like the mention of yellow pages, shame we never used them at the time I was with the Locksmiths/Alarm company I trained at. We had no need. I am glad you "respect" my skill set and in the same sentence try to discredit me. You missed out on several items my "trade" covers. You will of course remember I specialise in security, not play with it whilst fitting a bit of cat5 and telephones. You will find in that case my "limited" field of knowledge probably exceeds yours by leaps and bounds. Yet I do not have to shout it all about and make insidious comments about others. Perhaps next time you will read a post correctly, ingest the contents before making snide comments.
alterEGO Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 To be fair, a very useful website for finding out about locks n stuff. Just too blooody pricey. I found them to be useless. In the end i had to track down the lever pad handle i wanted myself, ended up getting it from the people who build the doors, they bought direct from Yale.

Ah, didn't say talking to them was worthwhile. The website shows you what's out there, unfortunately they are less forthcoming on the phone.
arfur mo Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 What is it they say? Self praise is no praise. I stated facts not slf praise, so i suggest get your English lit sorted out before attemping to snipe.with reknowned lack of joined up thinking Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
Specialist Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Any good lock firms out there that don't Fleece you? (Prefer to leave em on the sheep) Customers Love us, Intruders Hate us.
Cubit Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I stated facts not slf praise, so i suggest get your English lit sorted out before attemping to snipe.with reknowned lack of joined up thinking Arfur Still talking your usual b0ll0x i see. Arfur the billy big talker, fitting alarms when Noah was building boats. Sadly still stuck in the dark ages.
arfur mo Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 My point was the lock was fitted incorrectly, then the remedial works lacking. Did I mention you in my reply personally? Let me know where I did please. i posted i context, your remark apeard to be side swip at me, if not intended then i accept and appologise, but you have had swipes at me in the past over Chubb locks. Back to the door in question, even more so to move the strike and make the frame stronger than mess up an expensive bit of wood. You say they patched up a solid Beech door.................muppets. making the frame stronger while will would usually be a wise move, this had glazed panels, tbh it was not either my collegues or my remit, and at this stage the client is in no mood to talk to my any of my companies reps, the locky could claim the same as he is locky not a carpenter. Again you try and cast dispersions on my skill set to yours. absolutely no i don't, i clearley said i respect your knowledge in most issues about locks gates etc, suggest you read that again.. Again you assume your better. no, not better just i kow i have far more experience in this particular area I especially like your mention of your visits due to the alarm being faulty due to the lock fitments and yet boast how good Chubb fitters and yourself are/were. Yet all these call outs......................I think I dont have to point out the "shot self in foot syndrome" to anyone. not my 'foot', the existing lock fitments on the door were done by others unknown in the past, i don't know (or actually care) if it were Chubb kit either - it was not Chubb Alarm engineers as far as i know who installed that prior equipment since the house was built - or is it the 'Sins of the Fathers' your claiming? I like the mention of yellow pages, shame we never used them at the time I was with the Locksmiths/Alarm company I trained at. We had no need. i'm truely pleased for you, most J/P's when in a dier need would at that time reach for YP, while some clients would realise the lock was at fault, when the locky appeared they usually backed away from anyting to do with an installed alarm system not o their own, so the alarm co gets the call and makes the remedials, that means the service engineer which i spent a fair chunk of time at, and that was the point. I am glad you "respect" my skill set and in the same sentence try to discredit me. good as i do respect you skills (i would not have recommended you on to my clients in the past) but you don't match my experience dealing with faults on Chubb and other types of locks used fitted to alarm systems for fsault finding. You missed out on several items my "trade" covers. You will of course remember I specialise in security, not play with it whilst fitting a bit of cat5 and telephones it was not meant to be a CV for you, so that remark means what exactely? even you don't list all your skills as for 'playing' so have you run a company at any time? especially one that never advertises but has traded since 1984 i.e. thgrough 3 major depressions all without going bust, losing the house and with no CCJ's, Tax debts or overdue supplier accounts? so no i don't just fit security, i repair, modify, redisign where needed and make it far fsr more reliable and/or suitable so better value, usually after other some other so called dippy 'experts' dier failed efforts. i also happen to design and produce bespoke projects from schematic design through to fully functioning product, my clientel incudes Post Office Counters Plc. amongs others.. i personally hold certification to officially install Molex Premmissed Networks (LANS), which means i use their sockets, cable etc i and warrenty the LAN for 25 years no if's no but's all Molex backed. i have a Psiber LAN CAT5e/6 cable analyaiser that cost £3.5k + VAT, 2 x Fluke 620 testers, several cable tracers. thats not to be swank but so you show i don't exactely 'play' with bits of CAT5, i take it very very seriously just like all my skills and works that earn me a very happy living. just to add, i'm course qualified to fit both Seimens and Panasonic PABX's so any more points you want to discuss while we are 'at this wall'? Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
