I am having difficulty commissioning my Premier 24. Every time I connect battery and do 'kick-start' (without AC connected) the sounder on the panel goes off. I have tried the engineers code (xxxx) on the keypad and also the master user code (yyyy) but neither silence the alarm

The keypad also shows zones alrmed but until I can silence the panel I can't really focus on everything else.

Any ideas on how to reset the system or why it might be doing this? Is there anything that I need to check for that disables the codes?

Thanks.

The keypad 'beeps' when I press buttons but the display does not show **** or anything to acknowledge entry!

Data line for shorts...haven't checked...could this cause the problem?

i dont use this panel but any problems with the data line can cause this and other strange faults. if the rkp needs to be given an id make sure its right.

You certainly pointed me in the right direction here...

I revisited the addressing of the remote keypad....the DIL switch needs one 'on' and three 'off'. I put one switch down and three up! Studying the diagram in the manual, it's not clear what is on or off! So I have now changed to one up and three down and the keypad is taking codes!!!

When I study the switch, it does say ON in the top left corner and I suppose someone will probably tell me that all DIL switches work as up is on and down is off!

Thanks for the help and hopefully this might help someone in the future!

I've never worked on an alarm before and have been 'stumped' by addressing the keypad incorrectly. Now that is resolved I hope progress will be smooth!!!

I like what I have seen to date so I think it's a good DIY job but only for someone with an engineering mind and an interest. For a non-engineer type seeing it as a 'chore' I would not recommend!

I am enthusiastic about building onto the system, something I couldn't afford to do if I was paying an installer every time etc...

The help here is great!
