Replacing 9200 With 9651

Ye Olde Scantronic 9200 panel I fitted at my parents house about 20 years ago has finally gone to meet its maker. So I've bought a 9651-EN40 as a replacement (thought I'd stick with Scantronic as 20+ years is pretty good I reckon). I sat down this evening to read the installation manual and realised things have moved on a bit so here's my first question - does anyone forsee any problems in a simple swap. I can see that there is only a single tamper on the 9651 instead of per zone and I'm OK with this, however I'm wondering if the PIRs are compatible they're Pyronix Enforcer Plus (4 of 'em also about 20 years old) - I can't see why not but I haven't the benefit of years of experience so you never know. My second question is related to age as well ( I'm not ageist though), the bell is looking a little sad now so any recommendations as to a replacement would be much appreciated (looking through this forum the Odyssey seems to have a lot of followers however nobody mentions which one - the 1 or the 1E or the 2 or the 2E, etc., etc.).

I'm sure that I should be asking more than two questions but it's a bit late now and the old grey matter is running out of steam.

Thanx in advance.

Matt

Good panel to replace with.Try and follow instructions in the manual and fit resistors in detectors for FSL end of line monitoring. This will save you having to loop all the tampers in the panel, all new installs should be EOL anyway. In my opinion the texecom oddessy 4 is the best sounder option. All existing detection devices will be compatible.

Hi ,

9651 is indeed a good panel.Keypad has big buttons , but a small LCD display.

If you wanted to stick with your original devices and wiring , then you could program any spare zones as tamper , therefor having more tamper zones.

Also recommend the Odessey range

Best of luck.

Regards.

the 1 or the 1E or the 2 or the 2E, etc., etc.).

all same electronics in different shaped boxes, e's have single pizeo & tamper, 1-5 your choice

Thanks for the advice gents.

Odyssey 4 it is then.

I'll have a stab at FSL (thanks Justin) cos I assume this way retains the ability to differentiate between zones in tamper. I must admit though that I'm intrigued with this idea from Fastcar - can't see an option to program a zone as tamper though, would "Fault" work?

I'm certain I'll be back with more questions.

You're probably right Dave, if I was to replace the pirs which ones would you go for?

cheers,

Matt

i agree, the pirs may be on borrowed time. i too would also be looking to replace them, after twenty years you have had your moneys worth. please nobody say pyronic do not make a very good pir, because it would not be true. and they do have some nice new ones with blue leds

you can make the 9651 eol with each zone on its own tamper option 21 in eng

also try and get the 9940 remote keypad its smaller and smarter than the standard 9300 rkp and also has prox tag with it
